Weddings at Carriden House
Holding wedding ceremonies and receptions, in a historic castle or country house is becoming increasingly popular. We are delighted to help those who would like to celebrate their special occasion in the peaceful setting of Carriden House.
Carriden House is, we think, a stunning setting for a wedding. But we are biased, because it is our family home! We are anxious that those looking for a venue for their wedding or reception understand that Carriden House is an authentic Scottish family house with a homely atmosphere, and not a plush Country House Hotel.
The house lies well off the main road; about 1/2 mile along a farm track that at times accommodates a spectacular variety of pot-holes and puddles! Many people find all this to be attractive and to contribute to the charm of the place. If you are not such a person, we would politely suggest that you look elsewhere! If you are unsure, we would be delighted to show you around.
Function Rooms
Depending on your requirements, you can make use of our Drawing Room (about 14.5 m x 5.3 m (46 ft x 17 ft)), or Morning Room (6.2 m x 5.2 m (20 ft x 17 ft)). Or the two rooms may be used together by opening the double doors on either side of the spacious Reception Hall.
For a sit-down meal, the Morning Room can very comfortably accommodate 30, or the Drawing Room 50. During the summer, you could have a marquee on the lawn.
Catering & Other Services
You can either make all catering arrangements yourself, or we can usually suggest local companies who can cater for anything from a light snack to a full banquet. Please bear in mind that caterers can be fully booked months in advance at some times of the year.
We can also recommend local car hire companies, photographers, florists, bands etc. Our recommendations and any help we provide with booking are undertaken in good faith, but we can take no responsibility for external suppliers.
The Wedding Ceremony
If you would like to have your Wedding at Carriden House, we will do our best to meet your requirements, whatever they may be. Some couples already know whom they would like to officiate at their marriage. If not, we can put you in touch with the Minister of Carriden Parish Church (Church of Scotland), who is able to conduct the ceremony, subject to his availability. In addition to the Minister's fee, we make a small additional charge for any wedding conducted at Carriden House (currently £25.00). This is passed as a donation to Carriden Church. We are also approved by Falkirk Council as a venue for civil weddings.
Cost
Costs are by negotiation depending on precise requirements. As an indication, the hire of the Drawing Room will cost £200 per day, and £100 for the Morning Room. There will also be a charge for use of our kitchens by external caterers.
